Question

Why the speed of sound increases if the density decreases

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

Yes, the speed of sound and wavelength depends on the density of the medium. But pitch (frequency) does not depends on density but depends on the frequency of the source.
The speed of sound is directly proportional to the density of medium.
So, when the density of medium increases, the speed of sound increases.
