Question

Why the structure of H2O ( water) is bent?,why not triangular

Open in App
Solution

this is because the lone pairs are a bit more repulsive than the bonding pairs, leading to roughly a 2.5 degree reduction in bonding angles per lone pair. so the reason water is an angular (triangle) shape and not a triangular shape is because the shape is actually based of a tetrahedral molecule.
