Why the thermometer is kept under the tongue?

Thermometer is used to measure the temperature of human body.

Always its advised to place thermometer under tongue because the intense heat the body has will be in thermal equilibrium with some parts of body like tongue, ear, armpit etc.For convienence and accuracy ,always tongue is selected for measurement .

There is good supply of blood in tissues under the tongue. The mouth must be closed to prevent the cool breeze entering and affecting the reading.
