Question

Why there is no Hyperconjugation in Carbanion?

Open in App
Solution

  • A carbanion is carbon holding Negative charge have sp3Hybridisation that has 1 Loan pair of Electrons. Because of loan pairs of electrons, there is obviously generated repulsion between them . There is no doubt that they will undergo in bonding contact with adjacent C-H Bond.
  • Hyperconjugation is a lasting Effect in which σ electrons of the C-H Bond of an alkyl group are directly attached to an atom of the unsaturated system means a Double bond Containing or sometimes to an atom of the non-shared p orbital.
  • We can say Hyperconjugation is a stabilizing reaction that is arising from the interaction of electrons in a σ - bond (Usually C-HorC-C ) With a p orbital also or A πorbital adjacent to give an expanded molecular orbital that enhances the system stability.
