Solution

In nervous system, Information flows from one neuron to another neuron across a synapse. The synapse is a small gap separating neurons. A synapse is a structure that permits a neuron (or nerve cell) to pass an electrical or chemical signal to another cell.

Secondly, the synapse is the gate where signals can be diverted, branched to multiple paths, or halted. A very useful feature that allows very complex brains.

Thirdly, this could be a measure of current limitation. Considering that you will have a varied number of generators depending on the length of the signal... you need to control how powerful that signal becomes.

Fourthly, there is a multitude of transmitter chemicals, produced in the endocrine network, that can be released into the general environment to influence the nerve cells.
