Question

Why is urine reabsorbed during excretion?

Open in App
Solution

Urine:

  1. It is a pale yellow coloured liquid that is excreted out of the body.
  2. It is composed of urea, water, and other salts.
  3. It is a kidney filtrate, that is formed by the filtration of the blood.

Urine is reabsorbed during excretion because:

  1. It allows water, salts, and many other useful solutes to return to circulation.
  2. If reabsorption didn't occur, the body would lose 10 times more extracellular fluid.
  3. Reabsorption also ensures that only water and essential solutes are being taken back into the body and not the toxins.
