Why Vernier Calliper and Micrometer screw gauge are not used nowadays.

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
Vernier calliper and micrometer screw gauge are not used nowadays as the readings are highly dependent on the operators ability, and its accuracy is limited by the vernier or screw gauge.
The Vernier scale of a Vernier caliper is significantly small component. With improper vision or improper angle of vision it is quite difficult to properly read or identify measurements
Also Most micrometers have a measuring range of only 25mm. This means that additional micrometers are required to measure objects that are larger than this.
