Question

Why vulcanized rubber is used to make rubber tyres rather than natural rubber?

Open in App
Solution

Natural rubber is brittle, has low tensile strength, shorter life expectancy. Because of these disadvantages of natural rubber, it is not useful for making rubber tyres and other rubber products. Once the rubber is heated with sulphur, that is vulcanisation, it becomes water repellent, elastic, heat resistant and it is durable. Because of these advantages of vulcanised rubber, it is widely used to make tyres, toys and many more rubber products.
