Why was Caesar assassinated?

Open in App
Solution

The Generals, on account of continued wars, grew in prominence and undermined the authority of the Senate. Pompey and Julius Caesar were the two prominent generals of Rome. These two vied with each other and finally Caesar emerged, victorious and tried to become a dictator. But, the Romans did not like this and they, under the leadership of Brutus, assassinated Caesar in the premises of the Senate.
