Dear Student,

Consumer Protection Act was passed in 1986 to protect and encourage the rights of the consumers and for their safety from the misconducts on the manufacturers and traders part. The idea behind the act was:
  1. To spread awareness amongst the consumers.
  2. To punish people indulged in malpractices and exploit consumers.
  3. To keep a check on adulteration of edible products.
  4. To keep a check on the traders indulged in practices like black marketing, hoarding etc.
