Solution

The correct options are
A Seige on the fort of Purandar.
B Death of his general, Murarbaji Deshpande
D To protect the Swaraj
Jai Singh started a naval campaign against the Marathas with the help of the Portuguese in Goa and Vasai, the Dutch in Vengurla, the British in Surat and the Siddis in Janjira. He came up with a plan to capture the forts in Shivaji’s possession. At the same time, the Mughal forces were sent to destroy various parts of the Swaraj. Shivaji kept resisting until Jai Singh and Dilir Khan laid seige to the fort of Purandar. In this siege, Shivaji also lost a brave general, Murarbaji Deshpande. Shivaji finally understood that war with the Mughal Empire would only cause irreparable damage. Thus, he signed the Treaty of Purandar.
