Solution

The African National Congress is the South African governing Party. It was founded as South African Native National Congress on 8 January 1912 with the aim of fighting for the rights and interests of black South Africans and the main goal was to maintain the voting rights of coloureds. It was renamed as African National Congress in 1923.

It was suppressed in its early period due to political struggle and lack of resources. It was banned and forced to leave South Africa and after the ban, it along with South African Communist Party formed a military wing to fight against Apartheid.

The Apartheid Government entered into negotiations with ANC and mixed into democratic process in 1994 when Nelson Mandela elected as the President. It is the most dominant political party ever since.
