Open in App
Solution

Dear student, Dalton's atomic theory failed to explain the following points.Failures of Dalton atomic theory; * it said that atom is the smallest and indivisible particle. but it is not since it can be divided into protons, electrons and neutrons . However atom is the smallest particle that participates in a chemical reaction * it failed to explain the affinity of certain atoms towards other atoms to form compounds * failed to explain the existence of isobars6 * atoms of same element may differ in terms of mass and physical properities hence it wasn unable to explain the difference in the physical properties of compounds made from atoms of same element * inability to explain the binding forces due to which the molecules exist Regards
