Solution

The correct option is C To protect the rights of minorities and work for their welfare
The National Commission for Minorities was set up by the Central Government under the National Commission of Minorities Act, 1992. In the beginning, five religious communities, namely, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Zoroastrians (Parsis) were recognised as minorities. Later, in 2014, Jains were also recognised as a minority community. The Commission works to protect the cultural, religious, ethnic, and linguistic identities of these communities.
