Solution
The Third Carnatic War started because of renewed conflict between Britain and France in the Seven Years’ War (1756–63; between France, Austria, Saxony, Sweden, and Russia on one side; and Prussia, Hanover, and Great Britain on the other). In 1757, the British captured Chandernagar, and three years later, crushed the French army in the Battle of Wandiwash in the Carnatic. Henceforth, in India, the French were confined to trading activities only.
The Third Carnatic War shattered French dreams of building an Indian empire.
