  • The British according to the treaty of Bhairowal was only supposed to stay in Lahore for a span of one year, but Lord Hardinge intended to appoint the British army and a British resident so that he could control Lahore.
  • Maharani Jindan did not like this and therefore, a meeting was held which included all the prominent Sikh sardars.
  • The terms related to the British army getting stationed in Lahore were declared and the Treaty of Bhairowal was signed.
