Open in App
Solution

World War II is known as a world war because the fighting in the war was spread out all over the world. Many countries participated in the war. The main contenders in the war were USA, Britain and USSR on one side and Germany, Japan and Italy on the other side. Countries like Britain and Japan had colonies in other parts of the world. Hence, these colonies also got involved in the war. The war was, therefore, of a worldwide nature.
