Question

Why we do not use series combination of connecting electric appliances in household circuit ?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student

Household electric appliances are not connected in series because in series combination voltage is divided and current remains the same. When connected in parallel, all the electric devices are connected to the same potential difference. Thus devices will not work properly when connected in series due to insufficient potential difference applied to the electric appliances. In parallel connection different values of current can be obtained for different devices according to their requirement. Also in parallel connection resistance of the circuit is reduced considerably.
