Why were people against the first world war ?

The Russians were tired of the war because of scarcity of food and high casualties hence they revolted leading to the Russian Civil war under the leadership of Lenin. While they were busy fighting the civil war many countries became independent On Lenin's death Stalin occupied his position and had a regime of terror.
