Solution

Women were disappointed with the 1791 Constitution of France because it reduced the women of France to passive citizens. Under this constitution, Women lacked rights to liberties such as education, freedom to speak, write, print and worship.

The revolutionary government took the following steps to improve the lives of women.

1. It made schooling compulsory for girls.
2. Women could no longer be married against their will.
3. Marriages were now recognized as a contract and had to be registered.
4. Divorce was made legal.
5. Women now had the freedom to take up jobs and train for a career.
