Why work done against the gravity is negative? [2 MARKS]

Open in App
Solution

Each point: 1 Mark
1. We know. Work = F × s × cosθ,
If a ball is thrown against the gravity.
θ= 180o ,Cos 180o = -1

2. Work done = F × s × Cos 180o = - F * s

Since the direction between force and displacement are in opposite direction. Work done will be negative.
