Question

Why would a boat with a hole in the bottom would eventually sink?

Open in App
Solution

Water would enter the hole, replacing the air in the boat. At the same point, the boat would no longer be less dense than water, and it would sink.
One exception to this would be a wooden boat with nothing in it. Most wood is less dense than water, so it probably would float.
