  1. RBCs are the biconcave cells present in the blood.
  2. They are red in colour due to the presence of haemoglobin.
  3. They help in transport of oxygen throughout the body.

RBCs when placed in water:

  1. When RBCs are placed in water, they can imbibe water and swell up.
  2. This results in the bursting of cells.
