Question

why would the linear magnification produced by a rear view mirror in vehicles be less than one?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
The convex mirror forms a virtual, erect, and diminished image of the object and the rearview mirror also forms the same type of image. Therefore, linear magnification (m) produced by a rearview mirror fitted in vehicles is less than one i.e., m < 1.
