Question

Will a spectrum be formed if a Ray of monochromatic light falls on a prism ? Explain

Open in App
Solution

No never.
A spectrum is formed when a polychromatic light falls on a prism because the light splits into its constituent colours or constituent different frequencies.

A monochromatic has just one frequency(or the same frequency ) so it does not form a spectrum.

There might be some scattering of the light if the glass is translucent(not absolutely transparent) but it will DEFINITELY NOT FORM A SPECTRUM.
