Question

Will an emf be induced in a conductor moving parallel to the magnetic field?

Open in App
Solution

Induced emf is proportional to rate of change of magnetic flux. Now, if you move the conductor parallel to the magnetic field the flux won't change and hence no induced emf.

Flux is given by vector dot product of Magnetic field vector and Area vector. As you move parallel to the magnetic field this dot product remains the same.
