Question

Will the amount of chlorophyll present in a dark green leaf be more compared to that Of light green?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

A leaf appears green because it has a high concentration of chlorophyll relative to other pigments. Non green plants are the plants that have other pigments like xanthophylls, carotenoids more than chlorophyll. Non green plants may be autotrophic (e.g, Japanese red maple.) or heterotrophic (e.g, parasitic plant like Cuscuta ).

Regards.
