Question

Will the soap molecules work equally well in other solvents like ethanol?

Open in App
Solution

No, micelle formation does not take place in ethanol because the alkyl chain of soap becomes soluble in alcohol. Micelles can be formed only around suspended molecules of oil in a mixture. So soap molecules do not work equally well in alcohol.
