Question

Will the water cycle be affected if the number of trees became fewer? [3 MARKS]

Solution

Reasoning out: 3 Marks

We know that forests, like all forms of vegetation, affect the reflectivity of a surface by absorbing more heat than bare soil. This in turn warmth carries moisture from forest trees into the atmosphere, where it condenses as rain. It is in this way forests not only cool the local climate but help generate rainfall. If the trees became fewer, the heat absorbing capacity would get affected which in turn would affect rate of precipitation.
