  1. Air constantly moves around the world , that air is known as wind .
  2. Air in motion is called wind.

Answer 2 : Measuring wind speed as well as direction

  1. For measuring speed an instrument called Anemometer is used. For knowing the direction Wind vanes are used.
  2. A cup anemometer measures speed by catching the wind and producing pressure difference inside and outside the cup.
  3. The pressure difference causes the cup to rotate. An electric switch determines the rotation speed which is proportional to the speed of wind.
  4. For determining the direction Wind vanes are used.
  5. The wind vanes has a pointer which points towards the direction of wind as it blows through which the direction can be known.
