Lamarck postulated the theory of use and disuse of organs. Birds like ostrich and emu mainly obtained their food from lands. As a result there was no need for flight to search for their food. Eventually they became bulky and the wings became weak due to no usage acrosss generations. He used this instance of use and disuse of organs to prove his theory of acquired inheritance.
