For switch in position 1:

Length of rod, l1=2 cm=2×102 m

Velocity of rod, v=5 cm/s=5×102 m/s

R=10 Ω

Induced current,

I1=ϵ1R=Bvl1R=1×5×102×2×10210

I1=0.1 mA

For switch in position 2 :

Length of rod, l2=(2+2) cm=4 cm

=4×102 m

Induced current,

I2=ϵ2R=Bvl2R=1×5×102×4×10210

I2=0.2 mA
