Question

With a birth name of Tenzin Gyatso, I was born on 6 July 1935, to a farming family, in a small hamlet located in Taktser, Amdo, northeastern Tibet. At the age of two, then named Lhamo Dhondup, I was recognised as the reincarnation of the previous Dalai Lama.

When China invaded Tibet in 1950, even as a teenager, I had to take up a political role for my people. After a failed Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule, I fled to India in early 1959. I went into exile in the northern hill town of Dharamshala, where I still live. Who am I?

Solution

The correct option is B The 14th Dalai Lama
China and India have not shared a very cordial relationship since India's independence. Both the parties signed the Panchsheel treaty. In spite of this treaty, the relations started deteriorating when China occupied Tibet.
Tibet was autonomous but when China increased military control, the Dalai Lama took asylum in India. He currently resides in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Dalai Lama has been permanently living in exile in India since 1959.
Thus the conflict over Tibet created a difference between the two nations.
