  1. The Chola rulers were patrons of literature. Under the Chola rule, many literary works such as poems, stories, and legends were written by several Tamil writers and poets which contributed to the progression of the Tamil language during this period.
  2. During the Chola period, several Bhakti poets emerged. These poets belonged to the two sects. Those who were the devotees of Shiva were called Nayanars. And the devotees of Vishnu were called Alvars.
  3. Kalingattuparani was written by Jayamkonda.
