Solution

The correct option is B C3 plants respond to higher temperatures with enhanced photosynthesis while C4 plants have much lower temperature optimum.
C3 plants are those which exhibit the C3 pathway (Calvin cycle) in the dark reaction of photosynthesis and C4 plants are those that use C4 pathway during dark reaction. C3 plants are those whose first stable product is 3-phosphoglycerate, which contains 3 carbon atoms when they enter the Calvin cycle. C4 plants are those where CO2 is first fixed into a compound containing four carbon atoms before entering the Calvin cycle of photosynthesis. C4 plants respond to higher temperature with enhanced photosynthesis due to the CO2 concentrating system that inhibits RuBisCO oxygenase activity while C3 plants have lower temperature optimum..
The concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere lies between 0.03 %- 0.04%. Increase in concentration of CO2 up to 0.05% in the atmosphere can cause an increase in CO2 fixation rates. Beyond this, CO2 is accumulated in the plants and results in slow down of the process.
At high light intensities C3 plants show an increase in the rates of photosynthesis when exposed to high CO2 conditions. Higher productivity has been observed in some C3 plants like tomatoes when they are grown in a CO2 enriched atmosphere.
At low light intensities the rate of photosynthesis varies in a linear manner and at high light intensities the rate of photosynthesis becomes constant. Light saturation for CO2 fixation occurs at 10% of full sunlight.
