With reference to the numbers shown on the number line above:

(1) Which numbers are greater than +4?
(2) Which numbers are smaller than −3?
(3) Which numbers are greater than −4 and less than +2?
(4) Which is the smallest number?
(5) Which is the biggest number?

(1) Numbers to the right of +4 are greater than +4. So, the numbers greater than +4 are +5, +6 and +7.

(2) Numbers to the left of −3 are less than −3. So, the numbers less than −3 are −4, −5, −6, −7 and −8.

(3) Numbers to the right of −4 and to the left of +2 are greater than −4 and less than +2. So, the numbers are −3, −2, −1, 0 and +1.

(4) The smallest number is the leftmost number on a number line. So, the smallest number is −8.

(5) The largest number is the rightmost number on a number line. So, the largest number is +7.
