With respect to what basement membrane is permeable because in kidney basement membrane is selectively permeable?

Solution

lets compare it with cell membrane, cell membrane allow oxygen, co2, steroids directly across it but protein, ions and other polar molecule enters through channel or pump proteins....basement of epithelium have not this kind of specificity... all molecules, ions will cross easily without any channel or pump protein... KIDNEY BASEMENT MEMBRANE SELECTIVE PERMIABLITY IS W.R.T TO SIZE....LARGE MOLECULE LIKE ALBUMIN CAN NOT CROSS IT....
