Question

With the help of an experiment, explain that acids do not show acidic behavior in the absence of water.

Solution

Take dry HCl and pass current to pass through it. It wont conduct current. By taking aqueous HCl and pass electricity we can find the passage of current. This conductor behaviour is due to the fact that in aqueous solution the HCl splits to H+ and Cl-. Due to these ions they show the conductor behaviour.
