Solution

Natural selection:

Natural selection is any selection process that occurs as a result of an organism's ability to adapt to its surroundings.

Example:

  1. Red-colored beetles live on the green leaves of the bushes and increase their number by sexual reproduction.
  2. Their color act as a contrast against the green leaves and because of that they are preyed on by their predators i.e. crows.
  3. During reproduction, some beetles developed green color and they cannot be identified and preyed on by crows this variation in the body color provides them an advantage over the red beetles.
  4. Natural selection is exerted by crows because they will identify red beetles and their population decreased while the population of green beetles increases with time generation after generation.
