Without actually solving the simultaneous equations given below, decide which simultaneous equations have unique solutions, no solution or infinitely many solutions.
iv 8y = x - 10 ; 2x = 3y +7

8y = x - 10 2x = 3y +7

These equations can be written as follows:

x - 8y = 102x - 3y = 7

Comparing the above equations with the equations a1x + b1y = c1 and a2x+ b2y = c2 , we get:

a1 = 1 b1 =-8 c1 = 10a2 = 2 b2 = -3 c2 = 7a1a2=12; b1b2 =-8-3=83 and c1c2 =107

i.e., a1a2 b1b2 The given equations have unique solutions.
