Without using number line, calculate each of the following:

(-25)+40

Finding the sum of (-25)+40

Here, both numbers are of unlike signs +&-

So, we subtract the absolute values of both the numbers and give the sign of largest absolute value to the result.

i.e., sign of 40, which is "+"

Since absolute value of a number denotes the distance between zero and that number in a number line.

So,

-25=2540=40

So, 40-25=15

Hence, the answer is 15
