Open in App
Solution

Let us divide 4485 by 4

Step 1 : Divide 4 thousands by 4, i.e, 4÷4=1

Write 1 in thousands place of quotient and write the product 4 below the thousands place of dividend, 4-4=0

Step 2 : Bring down 4

4÷4=1

Write 1 in hundreds place of quotient and write the product 4 below the hundreds place of dividend, 4-4=0

Step 3 : Bring down 8

8÷4=2,

Write 2 in tens place of quotient and write the product 8 below the tens place of dividend, 8-8=0

Step 4 : Bring down 5

5÷4, which can not be divided

4 is the multiple of 4,which is smaller than 5

Write 1 in ones place of quotient and write the product 4 below the ones place of dividend, 5-4=1

we get,

THHTO112144485-404-408-805-41

Hence, the required quotient is 1121 and remainder is 1
