Open in App
Solution

Let us divide 556 by 5

Step 1 : Divide 5 hundreds by 5, i.e, 5÷5=1

Write 1 in hundreds place of quotient and write the product 5 below the hundreds place of dividend, 5-5=0

Step 2 : Bring down 5

5÷5=1

Write 1 in tens place of quotient and write the product 5 below the tens place of dividend, 5-5=0

Step 3 : Bring down 6

6÷5, which can not be divided

5 is the multiple of 5, which smaller than 6

Write 1 in ones place of quotient and write the product 5 below the ones place of dividend, 6-5=1

we get,

HTO1115556-505-506-51

Hence, the required quotient is 111 and remainder is 1
