Would you agree that the “depths of oppression” create “heights of character”? How does Mandela illustrate this? Can you add your own examples to this argument?

Solution
This is completely true that the depth of oppression creates heights of character. Oppression destabilizes ordinary people, but those who are men of character can use the force of oppression to develop their character to a great height.
Gandhi wouldn't have become a Mahatma if he had not faced the oppression of the British. Similarly, Mandela developed his character under the oppression of apartheid. He commended Oliver Tambos, Walter Sisulus, Chief Luthulis, Yusuf Dadoos, Bram Fischers, and Robert Sobukwes, who stood by him against the oppression of apartheid.
