Mandela thought that the decades of brutality and oppression resulted in the creation of numerous African patriots with unimaginable heights of character. This made him realize that the greatest wealth of South Africa is her people. If we look at the history of the Indian Struggle for Freedom, Bhagat Singh remained nonchalant while being treated with utmost cruelty at the hands of the British.
