Dear Student,
Following are the difference between monsoon winds and retreating monsoon:
1. Monsoon winds also called Southwest monsoon.
2. These winds blow from June to September.
3. The direction of these winds is from the West to the North East.
4. During these months South West Monsoons cover the whole of India and give heavy rainfall. The humidity is high andt he pressure is low on the land area.
Retreating monsoon blows from the northeast across the Bay of Bengal, it picks up a significant amount of moisture, which is subsequently released after moving back onto the peninsula. That rainy extension of the generally dry retreating monsoon is called the northeast, or winter, monsoon.
1. These winds blow during October and November.
2. These winds are calm.
3. The temperature increases again, the land is covered with rainwater, the humidity becomes high. The coastal areas of Tamil Nadu receive maximum rainfall from these retreating winds.
4. This is also called Northeast wind monsoon.
