Solution

Balanced chemical reaction:

  • A balanced chemical reaction is a reaction in which the number of atoms in the reactant and the product's side should be an equal number.
  • It obeys the law of conservation of mass and momentum.

Reaction:

  • When barium chloride reacts with sodium sulphate gives a precipitate of barium sulphate and sodium chloride.

BaCl2(aq)+Na2SO4(aq)BaSO4(s)+2NaCl(aq)

  • This is the balanced reaction:

  • Insoluble barium sulphate and sodium chloride solution are generated when an aqueous sodium sulphate solution combines with an aqueous barium chloride solution.
  • If the reactants are solid, the reaction between sodium sulphate and barium chloride will not take place.
  • When an aqueous solution of sodium sulphate combines with an aqueous solution of barium chloride, a two-fold displacement reaction occurs i.e.double displacement reaction.
