Solution

Balanced Chemical Equation:

  • A balanced chemical equation is one in which the number of atoms for all the elements is equal on both sides of the equation.

Step 1:

  • Write the equation which is to be balanced.
  • BCl3(g)+H2O(l)H3BO3(s)+HCl(g)

Step 2:

  • Balance chlorine atoms on both sides by putting 3 in front of HCl.
  • BCl3(g)+H2O(l)H3BO3(s)+3HCl(g)

Step 3:

  • Balance hydrogen atoms on both sides by putting 3 in front of H2O.
  • BCl3(g)+3H2O(l)H3BO3(s)+3HCl(g)

Step 4:

  • Cross-check that each element on both sides is balanced.
  • Since the atoms of each element are balanced. the balanced equation will be:
  • BCl3(g)+3H2O(l)H3BO3(s)+3HCl(g)
