Answers:
Salvador Allende led the socialistic party in Chile. The party won election in 1970. After becoming president Allende made many decisions for the poor and labour class. He introduced many reforms in the education system. Children were given milk free of cost and land was given to landless people.
But his welfare policies were criticised by zimidar, rich and church. On September 11, 1973 he was forced to resign his powers to military coup, to which he refused. The military coup surrounded the President’s house and attacked. He died in a military attack.
General Pinochet became the dictator and ruled for 17 years. During this period the supporters of democracy and army officers were sentenced to death. General Albert Batchlet, the air Marshall were also among them. His wife and daughter were sent to prison and tortured.
The military dictatorship of Pinochet ended in 1988 when he decided to hold a referendum. He was confident that the masses would do favour but the people of Chile had not forgotten the democratic tradition. Slowly and gradually the dictatorship came to an end. The daughter of Albert Batchlet, Michelle Batchlet became the President of Chile in January 2006.
