Abbe Dubois was a French missionary who came to India and settled at Ganjam near Srirangapatna. He adopted the local culture and customs and lived like a sage. The local people respectfully called him ‘Dodda Swami’. He wrote a book ‘Hindu manners, Customs and Ceremonies’. In this book, he has written about the customs, values, thoughts, festivals and Varnashrama system of India. He returned to France after living here for 24 years.
